About this role
We are looking for volunteers with a passion for people to join our busy retail team at Just Fair Trade Ltd. Fair trade means that the people who grow or make what we buy get a fair price and fair conditions. They can afford to put food on the table and send their children to school; we get great quality products. Volunteers are the heart of Just and we’re always on the lookout for people who are passionate about fair trade. We’re proud of the diversity of our volunteers, and this is your opportunity to be part of a team that’s inspiring, creative and really make a difference! Duties will be a mix of the following:

- Greet our customers and provide excellent customer service.

- Keep the shop clean and tidy, e.g. hoovering and dusting shelves.

- Help with the opening/closing of the store. (depending on hours volunteered)

- Process deliveries, online shop orders, price products and check stock.

- Use our till and card machine to serve customers.

- Prepare sale or return orders, e.g. Picking, listing and returning stock after event.

- Offer fantastic purchase support and encourage in-store sales.

- Research and discuss specific projects linked to our products.

- Promote and explain the meaning of fair trade.

- Take customer orders, and look for specific products in our catalogues or online.

- Be vigilant for shoplifting and alert a supervisor.

- Answer the phone and take messages.

- Support fellow team members to ensure we have a happy working environment.
We recognise our volunteers whenever possible and aim to provide a professional but enjoyable work environment. We ask for a minimum of 4 hours per week. If you have time available and would like to develop new skills this opportunity is a great way to do something positive for you and for our fair trade producers.
Please note:
Our current opening hours are Wednesday-Thursday 11-3pm and Friday-Saturday 10am-5pm (times and days subject to change)
All Covid19 safety measures have been taken, from floor markings, one-way system in and out, hand gel for customers, face coverings worn at all times, screen in front of till, guidelines for staff and volunteers etc.

Ages: 16+
Retail and customer service experience is desirable but not essential.
We are looking for volunteers that can work independently showing their initiative and as a team player when sharing tasks. Our priority is to offer all of our customers an excellent shopping experience. We constantly aim to increase sales and support our producers whilst raising awareness of Fair Trade.
