About the opportunity
Leicester City of Sanctuary (LCoS) is a dynamic, volunteer led organisation, delivering a wide range of projects that support refugees and asylum seekers across Leicester and Leicestershire. These include a weekly drop in centre, English language classes and a variety of other activities. These activities are mainly provided by volunteers, many of whom are themselves refugees or asylum seekers. We also employ three part time staff who co-ordinate the work, ensure compliance and look after the finances.
We are looking for one or more new trustees who are committed to the plight of asylum seekers and who have relevant experience to contribute to the work of the board. We would particularly welcome interest from anyone with experience in fund raising or with expertise in human resource matters. In addition, if you are a sanctuary seeker with recent or current experience of the asylum process and you are interested in becoming a trustee, we would also like to hear from you.
Further information can be found in the following documents:
- Trustee role description and person specification
- Summary impact report for 2019
Our 2018/9 Annual report provides a summary of our activities and can be found at https://leicester.cityofsanctuary.org/annual-reports
If you are interested, please email your CV and a covering letter to the address below. Please tell us why you would like to be a trustee and highlight any relevant experience you may have.
Closing date for letters of interest: 1st June 2020
Please note that the recruitment process will not be completed until after the restrictions associated with the Covid-19 virus are lifted.
