Journey Maker Volunteer - Leicester Railway Station

About the opportunity
The main role of a Journey Maker will be to provide support and guidance for the public at Leicester Railway Station, providing a welcome environment for people using the station to return to work,coming into the city to use the facilities. All volunteers will be provided with training, face coverings and a HiViz jacket.
Volunteers WILL be:
- Based outside of the station
- Welcoming passengers to the station
- Supporting passenger flow in and out of stations
- Encouraging passengers to use face coverings (in line with government advice)
- Providing clear and concise verbal instructions to people using the station
- Reassuring passengers and answering questions
- Fully supported and safeguarded by the transport hub and a volunteer liaison
- Provided with face coverings and a high-visibility volunteer vest
- Reassured by receiving training and an induction before you start
Volunteers WILL NOT be:
- Fulfilling any aspect of an employee’s role
- Helping support passengers inside the station, beyond barrier points or on platforms
- Visible to the train drivers and interfere with train dispatch
- Expected to know timetable information
- Asked to compromise their safety
The project is running for six weeks initially, and the shifts will be 7-11am and 3-7pm, Monday to Friday. You would be asked to undertake at least 1 shift, but we would welcome interest from volunteers who could do more than this.
