About the opportunity
We are delivering a local history project recording and celebrating co-operatives in Leicestershire. There is a long history in the area of radical tradition and it's an important city in the story of co-operation in the UK. We have received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and are collecting objects of interest to tell these stories. Alongside oral histories and stories these objects will be presented in an exhibition and website later in 2021.
We are working with volunteers to research these objects, creating articles, texts, and blog posts to delve into the meanings and histories behind them. This can be in a variety of lengths and formats, which we can personalise.
This is a super way to practice research skills and be part of a social history project, which will celebrate an important part of the co-operative movement.
At this point in time all research is conducted remotely, to ensure Covid-19 safety. Therefore, you don't need to be local, though local knowledge is always nice to have! Commitment is flexible and can fit around people's schedules.
