About the opportunity
Sport at VAL is looking for volunteers for our Active Youth Centre project.
We are looking for individuals willing to deliver semi-structured sport / physical activity sessions in city-based youth centres. The type of activity delivered will vary from centre to centre and full training is provided. Volunteers don't need to have great sporting prowess just a passion for being active, the ability to take charge and a willingness to work with teenages.
Volunteers will be offered a bespoke training package that includes: Activator training (delivered through StreetGames), Safeguarding, and First Aid. Volunteers will be asked to plan and deliver a minimum of 30 minutes semi-structured sport / physical activity each week / session which will be incorporated into the youth group’s general programme of activities and will take place at the group’s base of operation.
- References needed

We are looking for volunteers with a passion for sport and a desire to engage young people. No prior experience is needed and you do not need to hold a coaching award of any sort as training will be provided.
We require someone who would be willing to undertake training and commit to delivering sports sessions, alongside qualified youth workers, at weekly (or regular) youth centre sessions. As this is a grant funded project volunteers will be expected to report details of their volunteering hours and the number of participants at each sessions. Volunteers will need to make their own way to the venue, although travel expenses can be reimbursed.
This volunteer position would be a great development opportunity for anyone working or studying sport or youthwork and would be a forfulling role for anyone with a passion for sport or a desire to engage with young people.
