Supporting young people in animal care and gardening

Anstey Alpacas is a local organisation that works in partnership with schools in Leicester and Leicestershire,to teach and support young people about the various aspects of rearing and caring for livestock, as well as growing and producing fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers. The organisation's ambition is to provide young people with a different and alternative experience to what they may receive in a school and classroom environment.

Journey Maker Volunteers - Leicester Railway Station

We have a volunteering opportunity over the next six weeks approximately as Journey Makers, offering a friendly face and support to people using Leicester Train Station during the busier times.


This role will be based on different shifts, so we are looking for approximately 20 volunteers per week to help. The shifts will be 7-11am and 3-7pm, Monday to Friday, starting (hopefully) from next Monday 10th August. You would only be asked to help with one shift each per week, but of course we would welcome anyone who could volunteer more than one shift per week.

Community Fridges in Coalville, Hinckley, Loughborough and Wigston

Leicestershire County Council's Children and Family Wellbeing Service runs Community Fridges in Coalville, Hinckley, Loughborough and Wigston. These Community Fridges accept donations of food that would go to waste, toiletries and other items from local shops and businesses, which are then offered to the local community to come to collect for free.

As the lockdown is easing in part of Leicestershire, the Community Fridge prohjects are once again looking for volunteers to help.
