Volunteers needed for our new Thorpe Astley Family Support Hub

The Family Support Hubs are monthly meetings for families with autistic children to attend to get help, information & support.

About the opportunity

We are looking for Volunteers for our new Family Support Hubs.

With 3 years of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are now developing Hubs in the Northampton, Leicester city and Loughborough areas and expect these to start in Autumn 2019. The Leicester hub will be held at Thorpe Astley Community Centre, on the 3rd Saturday of each month (except December, which will be the 14th Dec), from 10am-1pm.

The Family Support Hubs are monthly meetings for families with children to attend to get help, information & support. Activities are provided for the children who attend the sessions, these include arts & craft, games, puzzles, light baking /food activities, sensory & soft play.

We need volunteers to help support these sessions; helping to set up, support the children & young people to take part in activities and generally assist the session co-ordinator. This role offers excellent experience for individuals who want to work with children or wish to develop a career in social care.

The Hubs each meet monthly and we are asking for volunteers to attend for at least one Hub per month- usually 3/4 hours- for at least a minimum of 6 months. We also will be offering training .The Hub sessions are either after school during the week or on a Saturday – depending on which area Hub you are volunteering for.

We require an application, an informal interview, two references and a DBS check to ensure we adhere to safer recruitment. If you think this is the role for you or would like further information, then please contact us.
